Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan (Photo: tienphong.vn) Hanoi (VNA) – Information provided by the public, the media, andvoters have helped Ho Chi Minh City discipline 97 Party members who committedviolations, receiving punishments ranging from warnings to being expelled fromthe Party, said Secretary of the municipal Party Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan.
Sharingthe city’s measures to prevent and fight corruption at a conference on January22, Nhan said that in 2018, the city’s party and government system, as well asthe Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels, received more than 3,500 reports ofwrongdoings among public officials. So far, 3,000 reports have been verified.
Hesaid that 142 public servants were given warnings or dismissed from theirposition.
Nhanattributed the results to the city’s efforts in strictly implementing RegulationNo.1374 on the responsibility of the Party Committee and Government inlistening to people’s reports on the risk of violations among officials andpublic servants.
Thereports are gathered through the Vietnam Fatherland Front, National Assemblydeputies, the People’s Council, meetings with voters, and denunciations andcomplaints reported by the media.
However,Nhan pointed to the loose coordination among inspection, examination, andsupervision programmes, which has led to several cases either overlapping orbeing missed out.
In2019, the city will assign the Party’s inspection agency to collect the supervisionplans of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the People’s Council, and the PartyCommittee for revision, aiming to enhance efficiency.
Henoted that the city has seen 12 stagnant cases whose settlement has become prolongedfor several years. He admitted that weakness still remain in the operation of municipalmanagement agencies.–VNA
