The Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) has screened its cooperation in human resource development with ASEAN over the past 15 years at a conference in Hanoi on March 9.
In the reviewed period, MoLISA has actively participated in ASEAN forums on cooperation in human resource (HR) development, heard the conference.
It has to date contributed to building and implementing 12 programmes and projects within the framework of the Action Plan on Human Resource Development under the Initiative for ASEAN Integration (IAI).
Prominent among those were an ASEAN-Japan programme on labour relations, a HR development programme for ASEAN officials, a project on research of the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA), and the impacts of the AFTA admission on labour and employment issues in ASEAN nations.
The year 2010 marked a turning point in MoLISA’s involvement in ASEAN cooperation activities as it took the Chairs of the 2010 ASEAN Socio-Culture Community, the 21 st ASEAN Labour Ministers’ Meeting for the 2010-2012 period and the 6 th ASEAN Social Welfares Ministers’ Meeting for 2007-2010.
Realising the yearly theme of “Human Resources for Economic Recovery and Development”, MoLISA organised successfully six ministerial-level and 16 expert-level meetings and two forums.
It also took part in 20 expert-level ASEAN conferences abroad in the fields of migrant labour, unemployment insurance, labour relations, labour hygiene and safety.
At the conference, MoLISA also reviewed the country’s 10-year participation in the World and ASEAN Skills Competitions in the 2001-2010 period.
According to Deputy Head of the Vocational Training General Director Duong Duc Lan, Vietnam took part in the ASEAN Skills Competition six times, bagging a total of 35 gold, 15 silver and 23 bronze medals as well as 48 outstanding skill certificates./.
