Conference shares anti-corruption experience

Speakers from the World Bank and the United NationsOffice on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) presented their anti-corruptionexperience in public procurement and financial management, transparencyof public servants’ assets and prevention of interest conflicts.

Inaddition, measures to increase the accountability of officials andcivil servants as well as help people access corruption-relatedinformation were tabled.

Participants also analysedanti-corruption regulations in the UN Convention against Corruption andintroduced Vietnam ’s initiatives against the problem.

Vietnam is sparing no effort to drive back corruption throughperfecting the legal system, intensifying inspection, and imposingstrict punishments on corruption cases, said Deputy Chief Inspector TranDuc Luong.

Delegates pointed out difficulties and obstacles thecountry is facing in fighting corruption so as to seek the bestsolutions to the issue.-VNA

Dutch trekker found safe after wandering astray on Fansipan Mountain

A Dutch man who went missing while trekking Fansipan, Vietnam's highest peak, was found safe by local authorities on March 4. His last communication with his wife was at 4:11 pm on March 3, when he warned her that his phone battery was running low and he might have to spend the night in the forest.

Thanh Hoa tightens management to address ineligible fishing boats

To address the limitations in the fight against illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing, Sam Son city has established a inter-sectoral force to combat IUU fishing. The task force regularly directs, guides, inspects, and handles two-no (unregistered, unlicensed) and three-no (unregistered, uninspected, unlicensed) fishing boats in its communes and wards.

Groups established to inspect key transport projects

Seven inspection groups will be established to review and remove difficulties and obstacles related to key transport projects nationwide scheduled for completion in 2025. They are requested to report inspection results before March 15.

Economic losses from workplace accidents increase by 1 billion USD

Data from the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs on workplace accidents in 2024 revealed that last year, there were 8,286 workplace accidents across the country, an increase of 892 cases from 2023, resulting in 8,472 victims, an increase of 919 people.

Dak Lak to build nearly 4,300 homes for needy households

On March 2, the provincial Department of Public Security broke ground on the first home for the family of Y Than Ksor in Kmien village, Ea Drong commune, Buon Ho township. Japanese-funded bomb, mine clearance equipment project launched

Colonel Le Quang Hop, Deputy General Director of VNMAC, noted that the project includes the acquisition of four specialised pieces of equipment for mine clearance, as well as training and technology transfer. The initiative will provide hands-on training and technical guidance for VNMAC personnel on the latest demining technologies.
