Above, it resembles a shimmering green thread descending from the sky, hidden in the middle of mountains. Nho Que River originates from the Yunnan mountainous region of China. It flows in the northwest and southeast directions into Vietnam from Seo Lung village, Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district of Ha Giang. The river passes through Tu San canyon – the deepest in Southeast Asia - and then runs along Ma Pi Leng, one of the four great mountain passes in the north of Vietnam. (Photo: VietnamPlus)

The mountainous province boasts majestic and poetic landscapes that captivate travel-loving photographers. Ha Giang province is an old land, home to more than 20 ethnic groups such as the Mong, Tay, Dao, Nung, and Giay. They have their own traditional cultures, lifestyles and customs, plus exciting festivals for visitors and researchers. Ranges of rugged rocky mountains, the narrow paths winding through hills up and down, and the golden rice terraced fields all embrace many mysteries not yet fully discovered. (Photo: VietnamPlus)

The river resembles a silk ribbon embracing Seo Lung Village. Coming here, visitors must try a river tour by boat. Although this area has yet to develop much in tourism, this service is available. Visitors usually buy tickets to the boat tour when they reach the place, but they should book in advance to save time if they go in big groups. Tickets cost 100,000 VND (4.02 USD) per person for a 30-minute boat trip. (Photo: VietnamPlus)

When coming here, tourists will know that Vietnam still has many beautiful scenes that make their hearts flutter. From Dong Van district, visitors can go on Ma Pi Leng Pass and look at the Nho Que River from above. In addition, there is another road to Ta Lang pier, which is shorter but very steep and unsafe, so few people choose this path. The way down the pass is pretty difficult to go by motorbike, so visitors can rent a motorbike taxi for 150,000 VND. (Photo: VietnamPlus)

In addition to motorboats, tourists can also rent a kayak and experience rowing on the river. September and October are the ideal time to travel to Ha Giang with the harvest season and the buckwheat flower season. The buckwheat flower festival has been regarded as a highlight for years to promote local culture. This year's Buckwheat Flower Festival is scheduled to be held in Dong Van district on November 26. Themed "Karst Plateau Vitality", this year's festival will feature a series of side events, including an exhibition of local "One Commune, One Product" (OCOP) and signature agricultural products, and a marathon named "Running on Happiness Route". There will be a kayak race on the Nho Que River. (Photo: VietnamPlus)

One of the most outstanding destinations of the Dong Van karst plateau formed millions of years ago, Tu San canyon is believed to be a wonder of nature. (Photo: VietnamPlus)

It is up to 900 m deep and 1.7 km long. The most interesting feature of this abyss is that it is situated between two ravines. Watched from a significant height, the two giant cliffs seem to bunch together. Its marvellous beauty combines the river's emerald green water to provoke breathless excitement. When coming to Nho Que River, you should never ignore kayaking trips. For a small sum, you can rent a kayak, or a light narrow canoe and go for a row across the river. The relaxing feeling of floating on the waves will likely blow your fatigue away. Besides these self-control services, travellers may also ask for boat services. They can either travel upstream from Xin Cai commune's boat station or travel downstream by starting at Ta Lang boat station. The ticket price for a 30-minute boat tour is 100.000 VND. September to October is the ideal time to visit Ha Giang, in the grip of both rice harvest and buckwheat flower seasons. Buckwheat flowers have become a tourist icon of Ha Giang province. Not only used as a traditional food of ethnic people, flowers of the grain also bring a poetic beauty, creating a unique feature in the mountainous highlands. Beautiful fields of buckwheat flowers, framed by magnificent limestone mountains, have become a can-not-miss attraction for tourists in the province in recent years. (Photo: VietnamPlus)
