CPV Central Committee issues announcement about 9th meeting

The 9th plenary meeting of the 12th Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee wrapped up in Hanoi on December 26 after two days of sitting.

Hanoi (VNA) – The 9th plenary meeting of the 12th Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee wrapped up in Hanoi on December 26 after two days of sitting. 

General Secretary of the CPV Central Committee and President Nguyen Phu Trong chaired and delivered opening and closing speeches at the meeting.

After discussing the Politburo’s reports, the CPV Central Committee issued an announcement.

According to the announcement, the CPV Central Committee cast votes of confidence on 21 members of the Politburo and Secretariat of the 12th tenure.

The CPV Central Committee gave feedback on the nomination of 205 people planned for the CPV Central Committee for the 2021-2026 tenure.

The CPV Central Committee reached high consensus on the Politburo’s report on suggesting disciplinary measures against Tat Thanh Cang, member of the CPV Central Committee and Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee.

Accordingly, the CPV Central Committee decided to relieve Cang from his posts as member of the 12th CPV Central Committee, Permanent Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2015-2020 tenure, and member of the Standing Board of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee for the 2015-2020 tenure.

According to the working regulations of the 12th CPV Central Committee, Politburo and Secretariat, members of the CPV Central Committee offered opinions on a report reviewing the leadership and directions of the Politburo and Secretariat during 2018.

The Politburo was asked to acquire such feedback to further improve the efficiency of its leadership and directions.

The Politburo’s report on its important activities from the 8th meeting to the 9th meeting was also tabled for discussion.

The CPV Central Committee called on the entire Party, people and army to strengthen unity, uphold achievements in 2018, and overcome difficulties to firmly safeguard national independence and security, territorial sovereignty, and successfully accomplish tasks set for 2019 and those set by the 12th National Party Congress.-VNA
