The recent visit to China of General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong produced practical results and carried strategic meaning, according to Grigory Trofimchuk, a Russian analyst of international politics.

Moscow (VNA) – The recent visit to China ofGeneral Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV)’s Central CommitteeNguyen Phu Trong produced practical results and carried strategic meaning,according to Grigory Trofimchuk, a Russian analyst of international politics.

Trofimchuk, Chairman of the Council of Experts of theEurasian Research Fund, highlighted the significance of the visit as well asthe talks between the CPV leader and the General Secretary of the Communist Partyof China (CPC) and Chinese President Xi Jinping, and China’s conferment of the Friendship Order on theVietnamese Party chief. 

The expert underlined that an important factor of the visit wasthe timing, noting that General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was thefirst foreign leader to visit China right after the 20th National Congress ofthe CPC. It was also the first foreign trip of General Secretary Trong afterthe 13th Congress of the CPV, he added.

He called attention to the detail that during their talks, the two leaders reaffirmed thatthe two countries remain steadfast in the path towards socialism and a socialist-orientedmarket economy.

According to the Russian expert, Party General SecretaryTrong's visit showed a vision for the future and demonstrated the friendly relationshipbetween the two Parties as well as the two countries./.

During his stay, NA President Man held a meeting with Prime Minister Han Seong Sook and talks with NA Speaker Cho Jeong Sik. Top Vietnamese leader To Lam proposed that the legislative bodies of Vietnam and Russia continue to play their role in improving a favourable legal framework for bilateral cooperation; and strengthen oversight of and urge the implementation of agreements reached by the senior leaders and Governments of the two countries, thereby helping translate political commitments into concrete programmes, projects and cooperation outcomes.
