Tuyen Quang (VNA) – The Vietnam-CubaFriendship Association and Tuyen Quang province’s People’s Committee jointlyheld a friendship exchange on May 25-26 to mark the 56th anniversaryof Cuba’s Giron victory (April 19, 1961).

Addressing the event, Vice Chairman of theprovincial People’s Committee Nguyen Hai Anh highlighted the solidarity betweenVietnamese and Cuba people during national liberation movements in each countryin the past as well as their present cause of national construction.

Cuban people’s deep sentiment towards Vietnam hasbeen demonstrated through Fidel Castro’s saying “For Vietnam, Cuba is ready toshed its blood,” he said.

Noting his pleasure at socio-economic achievements thatthe Cuban people have attained under the leadership of the Communist Party ofCuba in recent years, Anh said he believes Cuba will achieve socio-economictargets, protect national independence and territorial sovereignty andintegrity, and materialise the socialist economic model the country ispursuing.

Cuban Ambassador to Vietnam Herminio Lopez Diaz saidVietnam’s experience in reform will serve as reference helping Cuba carryforward its strength.

He pledged to serve as a bridge for the friendshipbetween Cuba and Vietnam and Tuyen Quang province as well.

Within the framework of the exchange, the delegates offeredincense at a temple dedicated to President Ho Chi Minh in Tuyen Quang andvisited a number of national relic sites in the locality.-VNA

NA deputies continue to discuss amendments to Constitution on May 14

The draft resolution to amend and supplement certain articles of the 2013 Constitution comprises two main articles. Article 1 outlines eight proposed amendments and additions to existing constitutional provisions, focusing on the role of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) and other socio-political organisations, administrative units, and the organisation of local government. Article 2 contains three clauses dealing with enforcement and transitional provisions of the amendments.
