Hanoi(VNA) – A Czech cultural corner was inaugurated at the Centre for CulturalExchange and International Cooperation (CCIC) under the Vietnam Union ofFriendship Organisations (VUFO) in Hanoi on December 13.
Addressing the event,CCIC Director Nguyen Trung Dung highlighted the time-honoured relations betweenVietnam and the Czech Republic, saying that alongside the economic partnership,the two countries have cooperated in cultural and people-to-people exchanges.
The CCIC wants tocreate a cultural space for Vietnamese who used to study and work in the CzechRepublic to recall their time in the European country, as well as for young peopleto explore the Czech culture, he said.
The Czech culturalcorner serves as a living library introducing aspects of the Czech culture tolocal people, as well as a venue for cultural, art, and language exchanges,Dung added, expressing his hope that it will contribute to the growing friendshipbetween people of the two countries.
Lukas Musil, CzechDeputy Ambassador in charge of politics, press, and culture, said the formationof the cultural corner has proven that Czech traditions and customs have beenpreserved and developed in Vietnam.
The Czech Government isexpected to establish a Czech centre in Hanoi in 2019, he said, adding thatVietnam is the third country, after the Republic of Korea and Japan, to have sucha centre.–VNA
