Numerous Buddhists and tourists nationwide have flocked to the 2014Quan The Am (Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva) Festival held in Ngu HanhSon district, central Da Nang city on March 19.

Thereligious festival is one of Vietnam’s biggest annual ritual events.It involves a varied range of cultural activities, including a prayerceremony for a year of peace, prosperity and happiness for the nation,and a folk music performance of bai choi (a card game in which playersalso sing).

A painting and photo exhibition featuring Ngu HanhSon (Marble Mountains) landscapes, a zen-tea exhibition,candle-lit flower releasing, boat-races and calligraphy performances areall included in the festivities.

The event is popular among tourists and locals, who appreciate its success in upholding national cultural values.-VNA
