Da Nang International airport received its five-millionth passenger in 2014 on December 30.

The lucky passenger is Tran Minh Thinh, who will enjoy a one-year free service from Vietjet Air carrier.

Da Nang Airport is the third largest in Vietnam, serving about 100 flights daily.

Among the five million passengers it greeted in 2014, which represented a 16 percent rise from 2013, 900,000 were foreigners, up 53 percent.

The airport is currently providing services for nine domestic routes and nine international routes.

It plans to expand its passenger terminal in order to serve 10 million visitors per year.

Besides, a cargo terminal will be built to handle 100,000 tonnes of goods by 2025.-VNA
