DaNang (VNA) – The central city of Da Nang boasts various advantages fortourism, from the beautiful beaches and sea, to forest, river and lakeecosystems, but it is essential that the city finds its own unique tourismproducts.

Expertssaid those natural advantages, when combined with the city’s moderninfrastructure, good services, safety and hospitality, create unique traits forthe central coastal city.   

DaNang has emerged as a destination of leisure, media and spiritual tourism, aswell as entertainment and shopping activities, and a venue of conferences.

However,compared to other central cities like Hue and Hoi An, Da Nang does not have asmany cultural and historical sites. Therefore, the city has looked to createits own events, such as the international fireworks festival and internationalsport tournaments in the past years.

DaNang also tries to offer new tourism attractions and products year after year,from Ba Na Hills to new museums.

Many expertssuggested the city turn meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions(MICE) tourism into a typical tourism product.

Overthe past time, the number of international holiday-makers to DaNang increased sharply, especially those from Europe, America and Asia.They have formed tourism streets like An Thuong, Ho Nghinh and Duong Dinh Nghewith their own tourism products.

AnThuong is expected to become a destination for foreign vacationers at night inthe time ahead.

Representativesof travel agencies said Da Nang should develop more marine tourism productslike parachuting, diving and tours around bays, along with products connectedwith local culture.

Da Nang is a popular tourist destination in central Vietnam.The online marketplace and hospitality service Airbnb announced a list of theworld’s top 10 destinations for the 2018, in which Da Nang ranked fifth in booking surges of upto 255 percent.

According to the municipal Department ofTourism, the number of visitors to the central coastal city is increasing withannual average growth of 20.06 percent in the 2013-2017 period.

In 2017, the city welcomed 6.6 million tourists,2.1 times higher than the figure in 2013. The tourism industry generated186,770 jobs in 2017 and grossed over 19.5 trillion VND (854.1 million USD) inrevenues, 2.5-fold increase from 2013.

This year, the city was ranked second in thelist of the 10 most popular destinations among solo or couple travelers,according to the Republicof Korea’s Ticket MonsterInc.

The website said people who plan to travelabroad with family members chose DaNang as the most popular destination.

The city is also the second-most populardestination among couple of travelers, followed by Bangkok(Thailand) and Guam (the US), it said.

Vietnam’s third largest city has welcomed 538,000 Korean tourists so far thisyear, accounting for a third of total foreign arrivals in the city, accordingto the municipal tourism department.

The RoK is expected to surpass Chinese touristsand become the biggest group of visitors to Da Nang in the near future.

According to the VietnamNational Administration of Tourism, Da Nang wassaid to be the best place to live in Vietnam with many world-recognisedrecorded. 

The US’sNew York Times listed Da Nangamong 52 places to go in 2015. The city was recgonised as one of the world’s 20low-carbon cities at the 44th APEC Meeting on Energy in the US in 2012.

DaNang International Airport was ranked third among the best airports in the worldin 2014, according to a survey by Dragon Air.

The InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resortwon the Asia’s Leading Luxury Resort in 2014thanks to its perfect combination of traditional beauty and modern, luxuriousstandards.

The US’sForbes Magazine selected My Khe Beach in DaNang as one of the six most attractive beaches on theplanet in 2013.

The cable line that takes visitors to the peak of Ba Na Hills at an altitude of 1,487metres in just 17 minutes and is able to carry 3,000 passengers per hour wonfour Guinness Records in 2013.

Sun Wheel, which is 115 metres in height andsituated in Asian Park, Hai Chau district, Da Nang, was listed among the 10 tallestwheels in the world.-VNA

The central city of Hue is among the first to forge new paths. Its “Hue Tourism Passport” began as a destination brochure in 2018 and has since evolved into the “Hue City Passport” app, with a heritage-passport feature that strings monuments into a structured journey.

Air travel surges to 1.68 million passengers during holiday periods

Domestic air travel accounted for 675,140 passengers and 3,400 tonnes of cargo, marking declines of 7.5% and 11.6%, respectively. In contrast, international transport showed robust growth, surpassing 1 million passengers and reaching 24,050 tonnes of cargo, up 10% in passenger numbers and 10.6% in cargo volume.

Vietnam records 2 million foreign arrivals in April

The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT) said the figures highlight the country’s rising profile as a safe, stable and increasingly compelling destination. It is the first time Vietnam has surpassed 2 million foreign arrivals for four straight months, and the first time the January – April tally has reached 8.8 million.

Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang lead Thai tourists’ searches

Data from the online booking platform Agoda shows that Ho Chi Minh City recorded the highest growth in searches from Thailand, reaching 134%, followed by Da Nang with a 58% increase. Other destinations such as Hong Kong (China) saw more modest growth.
