Da Nang's Dragon Bridge wins US Diamond Award in 2014 EEA

The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York recently announced that central Da Nang’s Dragon (Rong) Bridge has won the Diamond Award in the 2014 Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) in the structural systems category, reports Da Nang Today.
The American Council of Engineering Companies of New York recentlyannounced that central Da Nang’s Dragon (Rong) Bridge has won theDiamond Award in the 2014 Engineering Excellence Awards (EEA) in thestructural systems category, reports Da Nang Today.

This is the highest honour for a project outside the US. The awardpresentation will be made at a gala on March 29, 2014 in New York city.

The annual competition, organised by the AmericanCouncil of Engineering Companies of New York (ACEC New York), honoursmember firms for design achievements which show their superior skillsand ingenuity.

The Dragon Bridge project was builtunder the consultancy of the US-based Ammann and Whitney ConsultingEngineers with the Louis Berger Group Inc, along with Vietnam’sTechnology Development and Investment Consultant N°533.

The bridge features 166 meters of undulating steel in the shape of agiant fire-breathing dragon flying towards the East Sea. The main spanof the 37.5m-wide bridge is bookended by two 128m side sections, with ahead and tail on each end of those. The whole construction weighs 8,164tonnes and stretches 666m in length.

It is abridge with unique aesthetic and creative characteristics, andincorporates complex technologies. Spanning the Han River, the bridgeconnects Da Nang International Airport with the city's most popularbeaches and the downtown area.

After beingofficially opened to traffic on March 29 to mark the 38th anniversary ofthe liberation day of the city, the Dragon Bridge has become one of DaNang’s main tourist attractions and symbols.-VNA

Assignment of settlement authority of district-level administrative procedures must be completed before June 10

They are asked to issue legal documents within their jurisdiction to implement cuts and reassign the authority of settlement at the district level. For procedures requiring government decrees, ministries must submit them to the Ministry of Justice for review by May 10, and to the Government for approval by May 30. Progress on the work must be reported to the PM by May 10.
