The People’s Court of central Khanh Hoa province on October 29 sentenced two defendants to a total of 11 years behind bars on charges of “intentionally revealing State secrets” stipulated in Article 2, Provision 263 of the Penal Code.

Tran Anh Hung, born in 1957, residing in Tan Lap ward, Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province, was given six years. Nguyen Manh Ha, born in 1976, former inspector of the Government Inspectorate of Vietnam, five years.

According to the verdicts, the Government Inspectorate on June 18, 2010 issued a decision forming an investigation team to examine citizens’ complaints on the Phuoc Long new urban area project in Phuoc Long ward, Nha Trang city.

Taking advantage of relations, Tran Anh Hung repeatedly asked Nguyen Manh Ha to copy a draft conclusion report on the project. In late October 2010, Ha mailed copies of the draft report to Hung. Then on November 8, he faxed the last page of the report to Hung .

After receiving the draft report, Hung copied and delivered it to others to use as evidence for their denunciations and complaints to accuse the leaders of Khanh Hoa province and Nha Trang city, seriously affecting social security, order and trust in provincial leaders.

In June 2012, Hung and Ha were prosecuted and taken into custody.-VNA
