Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son gave a reception in Hanoi on April 17 for Colombian Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs for Multilateral Affairs Mauricio Jaramillo Jassir on the sidelines of the 4th Partnering for Green Growth and the Global Goals 2030 (P4G) Summit.

Son showed his appreciation to the Colombian government's support for Vietnam in organising the P4G Summit, thus contributing to global efforts to realise achieve green and sustainable growth goals.

Expressing his satisfaction with the progress in bilateral relations, especially in economic and trade areas, he affirmed that Vietnam always treasures multifaceted cooperation with Colombia in its policy of developing ties with the Latin American region. He proposed that both sides enhance delegation exchanges at various levels, and implement mechanisms on political consultation at the deputy foreign minister level and joint economic commission to review and agree on measures to strengthen bilateral relations, while continuing to closely coordinate and support each other at international organisations and multilateral forums.

For his part, the Colombian official expressed his pleasure at visiting Vietnam for the first time, and affirmed that Colombia considers Vietnam a top partner in Southeast Asia, and hopes to work with Vietnam - a bridge that helps promote relations between the Latin American and Asia-Pacific regions.

The Colombian Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to closely coordinate with the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs to implement the goals and directions for developing relations as proposed by Deputy PM and FM Son.

On this occasion, both sides agreed to enhance experience exchanges and expand cooperation in energy transition, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, response to such challenges as migration, transnational crime, cybersecurity, and climate change./.
