Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has highlighted the achievements gained by northern Nam Dinh province in building new rural areas, and its preparations for the winter-spring rice crop during his Tet visit to the province on February 12.
The Party and State have many policies to assist farmers in agricultural production, Hai said, suggesting Nam Dinh prepare to adapt for climate extremes and pay attention to high-quality rice varieties.
Hai asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to help farmers access capital for large-scale paddy fields and relevant ministries and branches to consider providing insurance to agricultural farmers.
Earlier, the deputy PM inspected production at Coc Thanh Pumping Station in Vu Ban district.
Nam Dinh is expected to cultivate rice on 77,500 hectares and subsidiary crops on 13,000 hectares in the winter-spring season. Last year, the province developed 148 large paddy fields covering a total of 6,500 hectares./.
