Dam made thecall attending the second Vietnam International Travel Mart (VITM) whichkicked off in Hanoi on April 3 with the aim of promoting tourismproducts and stimulating tourist demand.
Heaffirmed that the four-day VITM is important to the development of thetourism sector in particular and the country in general.
Despite of domestic and global economic difficulties, the sector hasstill enjoyed rapid growth, helping develop culture and economics andcontributing to poverty reduction.
In the firstquarter of this year, it saw year-on-year increases of 29 percent in thenumber of foreign visitors and over 30 percent in revenue.
Vice President of the Vietnam Tourism Association and head of theorganising board Vu The Binh said that the 2014 VITM has 508 booths,including 154 of travel agents from 22 countries and territoriesworldwide.
The event is expected to attract theparticipation of 3,000 businesses and 50,000 visitors. Airlines andtravel agents are also offering attractive promotions at theexhibition.-VNA

Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of Da Nang’s Department of Tourism, said the launch of the Almaty-Da Nang route marked a significant milestone in enhancing Da Nang’s tourism links with Kazakhstan and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). It is expected to attract visitors from this promising market to Da Nang and the central region of Vietnam.
