Hanoi (VNA) - The Hanoi People’s Committee on May 6 issued a directive to implement the National Tourism System Planning for 2021–2030, with a vision to 2045, aiming to position tourism as a key economic sector and achieve double-digit growth.

The city targets 30 million tourist arrivals by 2030, including 5 million international visitors, and 30 billion USD in tourism revenue.

The Department of Tourism will lead implementation efforts, focusing on digital transformation and building a tourism data system.

Relevant departments are assigned to accelerate infrastructure planning, upgrade parks and ports, promote one-commune- one product (OCOP) products, and protect the environment.

Local authorities are tasked with prioritising investment in key tourist sites, while the Hanoi Tourism Corporation will preserve cultural values and fast-track key tourism projects.

The initiative is expected to strengthen Hanoi’s tourism industry and support sustainable economic growth.

The department said the city's tourism sector flourished in 2024, achieving remarkable growth.

The total number of tourists reached 27.86 million, up 12.7% year-on-year. Among them, international visitors totalled 6.35 million, while domestic tourists accounted for 21.51 million.

The sector also reported a revenue of approximately 110.5 trillion VND (4.33 million USD), up 18.3% year-on-year. The average occupancy rate for hotels was 62%, 2.9 percentage points higher than in 2023./.
