Washington D.C (VNA) – DeputyPrime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue spoke of Vietnam’s socio-economic development andpolicies during discussions within the Vietnam Executive Leadership Programme(VELP) in Massachusetts, the US, on June 28-29.
Hue and other Vietnameseofficials also talked about economic achievements Vietnam has recorded over theyears and challenges facing the national economy.
Vietnam’s aims to improve growthquality and promote long-term sustainable development, along with the country’sresponse to climate change in the Mekong Delta were also discussed.
Formed ten years ago, the VELPis the initiative of the Vietnamese Foreign Ministry and Havard University. Itserves as a forum for leaders of the Government, ministries and localities toexchange views on policies.
This year’s event broughttogether many scholars and experts from Harvard Kennedy School, FulbrightVietnam and other leading US universities and research institutes.
The participants looked into theworld’s economy, cyber space and national security, intellectual property andtechnical transfer, urban strategy, growth quality, rural environment andenergy strategy of Vietnam.
Also on June 28, Hue and hisentourage visited the Massachusetts Institute ofTechnology (MIT)’s innovation centre.-VNA
