Hanoi (VNA) – The Party Central Committee’s Inspection Commission convened its 43rd meeting in Hanoi on July 15-16 under the chair of its head Tran Cam Tu, during which it looked into disciplinary measures against some Party organisations and members.

Regarding the wrongdoings by the Party civil affairs board of the People’s Committee of the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, the commission concluded that the board violated the principle of democratic centralism and working regulations, showed a lack of responsibility and loosened leadership and directions, resulting in the provincial People’s Committee and several organisations and individuals violating the Party’s regulations and the State’s laws on the management and use of natural resources and minerals, with several officials and Party members disciplined and prosecuted.

The commission said that the standing board of the provincial Party Committees in the 2015-2020 and 2020-2025 tenures, the Party civil affairs board of the provincial People’s Committees in the 2016-2021 and 2021-2026 tenures, the party delegation of the provincial People’s Council in the 2016-2021 tenure, and many officials must take responsibility for the violations and shortcomings. It decided to give warnings to the Party civil affairs boards of the provincial People’s Committees in the 2016-2021 and 2021-2026 tenures and some local officials, and reprimands to the Party delegation of the provincial People's Council in the 2016-2021 tenure and several local officials.

The commission proposed that competent authorities consider and impose discipline against the standing board of the provincial Party Committees in the 2015-2020 and 2020-2025 tenures. It also ordered the standing board of the provincial Party Committee and the Party civil affairs board of the provincial People’s Committee to promptly correct their violations and shortcomings, and consider and mete out punishment against organisations and individuals with violations under their authority.

The commission also decided to expel Le Thanh Van, a standing member of the National Assembly (NA)’s Finance and Budget Committee and a deputy of the 15th NA, from the Party for his degradation in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle, manifestations of "self-evolution" and "self-transformation", violation of the Party’s regulation and State’s law on corruption prevention, and abuse of position and power for personal gain that caused serious consequences and tarnish the reputation of the Party organisation and the places where he works.

The committee scrutinised a report proposing disciplines against several Party members of the Party Committee of the south central province of Binh Thuan, and asked competent authority to consider and impose discipline against those Party members for deterioration in political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle, violations of the Party’s regulation and State’s law on corruption prevention, and abuse of position and power for personal gain that caused serious consequences and damage the reputation of the Party organisation.

Regarding violations of the Standing Board of the Party Committee of Vinh Phuc province, the commission decided to give warnings and reprimands to several local officials.

As for the handling of some Party members who committed violations in association with projects and bidding packages carried out by the Advanced International Joint Stock Company (AIC) at the Ministry of Finance, the Government’s Office and in such localities as Hanoi, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Ben Tre, Hau Giang and Vinh Long, the commission required related Party organisations and Party members to continue correcting the mistakes and violations in a timely manner.

At the meeting, the commission examined the outcomes of Party inspections in Ha Nam and Khanh Hoa provinces, settled a Party discipline complaint, and looked into some other important issues./.
