Drug traffickers arrested in Bac Kan province

Police in Bach Thong district, the northern province of Bac Kan, on October 16 arrested three men who smuggled 198 bricks of heroin from Laos into Vietnam. The drug was believed to be forwarded to China.

Bac Kan (VNA) – Police in Bach Thong district, the northernprovince of Bac Kan, on October 16 arrested three men who smuggled 198 bricksof heroin from Laos into Vietnam. The drug was believed to be forwarded toChina.

Trieu Van Vinh (born in 1986, residing in Thai Nguyen province), Trieu Van Luc(born in 1996, residing in Thai Nguyen province), and Giang A Di (born in 1995in Dien Bien province) were caught while attempting to transport the drug onNational Highway 3 in Khuoi Sla village, Tu Tri commune, Bach Thong district.

The drug, worth some 40 billion VND (1.7 million USD), was hidden in anexcavator.

The province’s police also arrested Vang A Minh (born in 1978, residing in DienBien province) for his involvement in the case.

Minh admitted that he was hired to transport the drug from Laos to China viaCao Bang province for 1 billion VND (42,800 USD). Meanwhile, Di said that hewere promised 200 million VND (8,500 USD) if the transportation was successful.
