Hanoi (VNA) – Many Dutch businessesattending at a webinar on October 28 expressed their interest in the Vietnamesemarket and wanted to seek logistic cooperation opportunities with Vietnam.

The “Vietnam – Netherlands Logistics Webinar:Identifying Opportunities & Connecting Partners” was jointly held by theAgency of Foreign Trade under the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) and theVietnamese Embassy in the Netherlands.

At the event, Permanent Vice President of theVietnam Logistics Business Association (VLA) Dao Trong Khoa suggested the twocountries cooperate in the supply of logistic services in the EU-Vietnam FreeAgreement (EVFTA) area.

The Netherlands would serve as a gateway for Vietnamto access the European market. Meanwhile, Vietnam is regarded as an entrepotfor Dutch exports to penetrate the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN), he said. 

Khoa encouraged Dutch logistics enterprises to investin infrastructure development, especially in logistics centres, in Vietnam. Healso suggested Vietnam learn from the Netherlands’ experience in logisticsdevelopment in agriculture and green logistics at seaports.

Le Quang Trung, Deputy General Director of theVietnam Maritime Corporation (VIMC), also proposed Vietnam and the Netherlandscoordinate and build IT platforms to provide chain solution packages forclients.

Tran Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Agency ofForeign Trade, said Vietnam’s export-import turnover exceeded 500 billion USDin 2019. In the first nine months of this year, despite impacts of the COVID-19pandemic, the figure still reached 483 billion USD, up 24.4 percent from 2020.

He highlighted the high growth rate of the domesticlogistics sector over the past years, at 14-16 percent, with about 30,000businesses operating in this field.

The official expressed his hope for solutions toimprove Vietnam’s human resources quality in logistics, and optimise thedomestic transport system, especially in seaports./.
