Educational accreditation centre launched in Ho Chi Minh City

A centre for verifying educational quality was set up by the Vietnam National University (VNU) in Ho Chi Minh City on November 13.
A centre for verifying educational quality was set up by the VietnamNational University (VNU) in Ho Chi Minh City on November 13.

The facility is to make assessment and endorsement of educationinstitutes and programmes meeting quality standards, and offersuggestions on improving the post-verification quality.

The Ministry of Education and Training has granted certificates to 55verifiers trained at home and abroad, including 12 from the city-basedVNU, said Nguyen Hoi Nghia, deputy director of the university.

Pham Xuan Thanh, deputy head of the ministry’s General Department forEducational Testing and Accreditation, praised the university’s effortsto build a competent verifying staff that contributes to the fulfilmentof the nationwide educational quality assessments.

He cited the fact that more than 70 percent of tertiary and intermediateinstitutes have special groups and annual plans on ensuring educationalquality. Up to 92 percent of universities and colleges completedself-assessment reports and readied to register quality standards.

A similar centre is operating at the Hanoi-based Vietnam National University .

From 2015 and onward, the Ministry of Education and Training willallow organisations and individuals to establish independent assessmentgroups in addition to perfecting legal documents on the field.-VNA

The circular establishes a unified benchmark for foreign language proficiency across the national education system, providing a foundation for curriculum design, teaching, testing, assessment, and certification. It is expected to help learners better map out their language development pathways while enabling educational institutions to improve training quality and strengthen articulation between different levels of education.
