The delegation of the European Parliament's Fisheries Committee has visited some coastal localities to inquire about Vietnam’s activities to fight illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. On this occasion, let’s take a look at Vietnam’s efforts in this fighting.
On October 25th, 2017, Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union to Vietnam sent a letter to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development on the application of a “yellow card” warning on Vietnamese seafood exports to the EU.
By January 2019, the delegation will return to Vietnam to inspect and assess the situation and results of recommendations on tackling illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing.
Whether Vietnam can remove the yellow card will depend much on improvement in legal framework and fishing activities in localities.-VNA
