Efforts needed to ensure social order

At ateleconference hosted by the Steering Committee for Crime Prevention andCombat on July 14, Phuc, who is the committee’s Head, stressed the needfor specific measures to increase the validity and efficiency of Statemanagement of crime fighting.

Ensuring the absolutesafety for Party congresses at all levels as well as the National PartyCongress and major festivals of the country is a must, he added.

The Deputy PM spoke of efforts by all ministries, sectors andlocalities in the fight but noted criminal prevention work remains weakand is a worry among the community.

He attributed theweakness to inefficient social management and public communications andthe decadence of several police officers.

According toa report by the steering committee, police have uncovered more than21,400 criminal cases, arresting nearly 42,000 suspects and razing over1,200 gangs so far this year.

About 7,800 economic cases, 114 cases involving corruption and 6,400 environmental violations have also been brought to light.-VNA

Memorial, reburial service held for 80 martyrs repatriated from Laos

Over the past four decades, the special task forces of the Vietnamese and Lao governments, together with Vietnam’s Ministry of National Defence, Military Region 4 Command and Nghe An province, have closely coordinated with Lao localities to search for and repatriate 12,897 sets of remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who sacrificed in Laos.
