Eighth Europe-Vietnam documentary film festival opens in HCM City

The eighth European-Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City on June 9.

HCM City (VNA) – The eighthEuropean-Vietnamese Documentary Film Festival kicked off in Ho Chi Minh City onJune 9.

The event was held by the European Union NationalInstitutes for Culture (EUNIC) and the National Documentary and Scientific FilmStudio.

Thirty-one documentary movies, including the 10 prize-winningworks from France, Germany, Belgium, Spain, Sweden, and Denmark will bescreened at the festival.

Among 21 Vietnamese works sentto the event, some are made by young directors who are students of Hoa SenUniversity, such as “Giuong xinh” (Beautiful beds), “Ben duong dai lo” (Belowthe boulevard), and “Thien than bat tu” (Immortal angel).

Each show will comprise oneforeign and one domestic documentary.

The two works screened at the opening ceremonywere “Dau an Sa Huynh” (Sa Huynh relics) by director Phung Ngoc Tu, which looksinto the mysteries of Sa Huynh culture, dating back over 3,000 years in thecentral part of Vietnam, and “Rung xanh ky dieu” (Once upon a forest) by Frenchdirector Luc Jacquet.
