Bangkok (NNT/VNA) - Some 500 members of the "Ayutthaya Elephant Palace and Royal Kraal" and the "Elephant of the King" brought 10 elephants to parade in Bangkok to honour His Majesty the King on May 7.
The elephant foundation in Ayutthaya province and the "Elephant of the King" group organised the elephant procession, involving 10 elephants and one royal elephant named Plai Siam. The procession was led by the owner of the "Ayutthaya Elephant Palace and Royal Kraal", Laithongrien Meepan. The elephants and the mahouts marched to Svasti Sopha Gate of the Temple of the Emerald Buddha and paid their respects to a portrait of His Majesty the King.
Mr. Laithongrien said the 10 elephants, together with some 500 personnel, gave performances and knelt before His Majesty the King’s portrait for 19 seconds.
Plai Siam is a royal elephant, which is an auspicious symbol in the country. The elephant procession also featured traditional gamelan music. – NNT/VNA
