Embassies in Vietnam marks 78th anniversary of Russia's Victory Day

The Embassies of Russia and Belarus in Vietnam together held a ceremony in Hanoi on May 4 to celebrate the 78th anniversary of Victory Day over Fascism in the Great Patriotic War (May 9, 1945 – 2023).

Hanoi (VNA) - The Embassies of Russia and Belarus in Vietnam togetherheld a ceremony in Hanoi on May 4 to celebrate the 78th anniversary of Victory Day over Fascism in the Great Patriotic War (May 9, 1945 – 2023).

In his remarks, Russian Ambassador to Vietnam Bezdetko GennadySchepanovich said the marking of the victory and the "ImmortalRegiment" parade has become a tradition in Russia and many parts ofthe world to pay tribute to those who took part in the Great Patriotic War.

He emphasised the contribution of Vietnamese soldiers to thevictory, saying that they fought side by side with Soviet people in the years1941-1945 and their names have been inscribed on the list of the road-of-memorymemorial museum in Moscow, Russia.

Belarusian Ambassador Borovikov Vladimir Vladimirovich hopedthat countries worldwide enjoy peace and prosperity and that the memoriesof the warriors in the Great Patriotic War will be preserved through ages.

The celebration also featured a photo exhibition showcasing heroic events of the Great Patriotic War in Belarus.

Before the ceremony, participants joined an "ImmortalRegiment" parade./.
