HCM City (VNA) – The Danish Embassy in Vietnam celebrated 45 years of thetwo countries’ diplomatic relationship with a gathering in Ho Chi Minh City onNovember 25.
Danish Ambassadorto Vietnam Charlotte Laursen said over the last four and a half decades,Vietnam and Denmark have built up friendship and elevated it to a closepartnership.
On thebasis of mutual trust and respect, bilateral cooperation has been expanded to economy,culture, tourism and arts. Aside from the growing number of Danish companiesdoing business and investment in Vietnam, cultural and art exchanges have alsobeen held frequently.
Danishpeople are becoming more interested in Vietnam and want to learn about itscountry and people, she said, adding that nearly 30,000 Danish tourists visitedthe Southeast Asian nation in 2015.
Speakinghighly of Vietnam-Denmark cooperation, Le Quang Long, Acting Director of HCMCity’s Department for External Relations, said Denmark is one of the firstEuropean countries to recognise and establish diplomatic ties with Vietnam, onNovember 25, 1971.
Bilateralrelations have been flourishing since then and they have become comprehensivepartners, he said, highlighting their strategic partnership in climate changeresponse, energy, environment and green growth since 2011.
He saidthe countries’ sound connections are a favourable prerequisite for HCM City andDenmark to bolster cooperation activities.
Longexpressed his hope that Denmark’s economic and trade office in HCM City willcoordinate with municipal authorities to promote economic exchanges, therebyattracting more Danish investments in the southern hub ofVietnam.-VNA
