Vietnamese enterprises learn how to continue business activities in thepost-disaster time from a symposium on Business Continuity Planning(BCP), which opened in Hanoi on May 8.

As a coastal country,Vietnam has suffered sizable economic damage caused by naturaldisasters and climate change, according to Nguyen Xuan Dieu, DeputyDirector of the General Department of Irrigation of the Ministry ofAgriculture and Rural Development.

The symposium is a platformfor the sharing of experiences in fighting disasters and mitigatingdisaster consequences, Dieu said.

Participants are to discusspolicies to support the making of planning to maintain businessoperations and help disaster affected businesses continue theirproduction.

The symposium, a joint initiative of Vietnam ,Australia , Singapore and Taiwan ( China ), is held within theframework of APEC's Emergency Preparedness Working Group (EPWG), aimingto promote APEC’s linkage 2013.

It is one of APEC’s important activities that Vietnam has hosted in 2013.-VNA
