The draft amended Law on Environmental Protection was up for discussion at the first sitting of the National Assembly Standing Committee’s 25 th session in Hanoi on February 20.
The bill features policies, means and resources for environmental protection, and the rights, responsibilities and missions of organisations, households and individuals in the cause.
Deputies suggested that a two-step environmental assessment is necessary as many projects have been delayed due to their harmful impacts on the environment, causing wastefulness for investors and society.
They also looked into environmental protection regulations on the import of scrap. Some said that they should be more specific to monitor the activity as closely as possible.
In the afternoon, the committee gave feedback on the draft revised Notary Law.-VNA
