Hanoi (VNA) – An exhibition hosted by the Embassy of Indonesia in Vietnam opened at theUmah Indo exhibition house in Hanoi on December 13.

Addressing theopening ceremony, Third Secretary of the Indonesian Embassy Linda Widiyantisaid the exhibition aims to connect Vietnam and Indonesia tourism.

During one month ofthe exhibition, all participating tour operators will offer best-price travel packagesto Indonesia’s well-known destinations, she added.

Tourism cooperationbetween Vietnam and Indonesia has been stepped up since the signing of theMemorandum of Understanding on Tourism Cooperation in 1994, noted WiwiekWidyawati, a representative from the Indonesian Tourism Ministry.

In 2016, the numberof Indonesian visitors to Vietnam rose 11.9 percent compared to the previousyear. Meanwhile, tourist arrivals from Vietnam to Indonesia increased fromabout 49,850 in 2015 to nearly 61,000 in 2016, a rise of 22.35 percent.

As one of theorganisers of the event, the low-cost carrier Vietjet Air plans to open newflight route from HCM City to Jakarta at the year’s end, which is expected toenhance tourism links between the two countries.-VNA

China is one of the important international tourism markets for Vietnam, particularly for the Mekong Delta. In 2024, Vietnam attracted more than 3.7 million Chinese tourists, accounting for 21.26% of the total number of international visitors in Vietnam.
