Final inland district has access to electricity

Every district in mainland Vietnam is now on the national electrical grid after Electricity Company 1 put into operation powerlines that reach Muong Te district in Lai Chau province on Feb. 9.

The lines, part of a WorldBank-funded project capitalised at more than 30 billion VND, bringlight to nearly 2,000 ethnic minority households in the mountainousnorthern province.

The event means that the country has reached --one year ahead ofschedule-- the Government-set target of providing all inland districtswith power./.

Vietnamese workers to enjoy five-day Reunification and Labour Day holiday

The Government is recommending public employers arrange their working schedules to swap out working on Saturday, April 26, for the day off on May 2.In early April, workers in Vietnam will also enjoy a day off for the Hung Kings Commemoration Day (the 10th day of the third lunar month), which falls on April 7 (Monday).
