Moscow (VNA) – Vietnam Day has become popular, attracting not only those who study Vietnamese or Southeast Asia but also other students of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO), said the institute’s Vice Rector in charge of personnel policy Vladimir Morozov during the Vietnam Day on April 28.

The annual event was hosted by MGIMO’s ASEAN Centre on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Vietnam-Russia diplomatic relations and the 30th anniversary of Vietnam's official accession to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

In his opening speech, Morozov emphasised that the Vietnam-Russia relationship is a shining example of cooperation, friendship, respect and mutual support, especially in difficult times like the present.

The training of experts in Vietnam research at MGIMO began in 1954 and has always been considered a very serious and important task. MGIMO graduates in recent years have demonstrated their abilities in many different positions, making certain contributions to the development of Russia-Vietnam relations.

He expressed his gratitude for the attention and enthusiastic support of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia in all activities of MGIMO, contributing to strengthening the friendship between the two countries.

Mai Nguyen Tuyet Hoa, First Secretary of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia in charge of education, read a letter from Vietnamese Ambassador to Russia Dang Minh Khoi to the event.

In the letter, Khoi affirmed that the Vietnam Day event has long held a special place in the hearts of many Vietnamese people living in Russia. This is not only a cultural event, but also an important foundation for a deeper understanding of the history, traditions, language and development of a modern Vietnam.

Discussions at the event were an opportunity to propose new prospects for bilateral cooperation, Khoi said, expressing his belief that Vietnam Day at MGIMO will continue to contribute to promoting the development of educational, cultural and youth exchange activities, and will also become a bridge for closer cooperation, a symbol of the strong friendship, mutual understanding and effective cooperation between the two countries.

This year's event highlighted Vietnam-Russia cooperation in the past and future, particularly in technology, in the era of transformation, in an emerging multipolar world, and among Vietnamese and Russian youth.

Within the framework of Vietnam Day at MGIMO, an exhibition was held, featuring photos and archival documents on the history of the development of Vietnam-Russia relations on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries./.
