Ho Chi Minh City’s Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department on March 2 put into use a locally-built fireboat.
The specialised watercraft, fitted with modern firefighting equipment, is capable of extinguishing fires on waterways within a 2km radius.
It can also deal with fires in 200-m tall buildings along the riverbank in the city.
The boat, costing nearly 50 billion VND, is the first of its kind built in Vietnam.
It will also be used to maintain social order and security in the city, and provide fire and rescue support in surrounding areas. -VNA
