First Vietnamese young intellectual forum to open in November

The first Vietnamese Young Intellectual Forum will take place in the central city of Da Nang from November 27-29, with 200 Vietnamese intellectuals residing domestically and abroad taking part.

Hanoi (VNA) – The first Vietnamese Young Intellectual Forum will takeplace in the central city of Da Nang from November 27-29, with 200 Vietnameseintellectuals residing domestically and abroad taking part.

The eventaims to facilitate the role of young intellectuals in national construction anddevelopment, contributing to promoting the country’s economic integration inthe region and the world.

It willalso discuss and propose mechanisms to attract talent in a practical andeffective way, raise ideas to fulfill national development goals, as well as providea platform for the Government and authorities to consult young intellectuals aboutissues crucial to national development.

Themed “Tappingthe power of young Vietnamese intellectuals in the 4.0 era”, the forum willfocus on the three topics of promoting STEM to build a high-quality workforcein the context of the Fourth Industrial Revolution; adopting Industry 4.0 technologyin environmental protection and climate change response; and promoting innovationin manufacturing and business.

The forumwill also issue a report on recommendations from Vietnamese intellectualsaround the world. A global network for young Vietnamese intellectuals and staffin charge of running the forum will also debut.

Among the 200participants, 130 delegates come from within the country and the others fromabroad, all aged below 35 years old.

Thoseinterested in the forum should send applications to the organising board atNo.64 Ba Trieu street, Hoan Kiem district, Hanoi or email twhoilhtnvn@gmail.com before November 5.Successful applicants will be chosen by the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, theVietnam Youth Federation, the Vietnamese Students’ Association, the Union ofScientific-Technological Organisations, various research institutes, and theVietnam Private Economy Forum.

At present,there are more than 400,000 Vietnamese intellectuals abroad, including over6,000 doctorate degree holders and hundreds of well-known ones. Up to 150,000 areworking in the US – of whom, roughly 12,000 working in Silicon Valley, upwards 100at the World Bank, 40,000 in France, 20,000 in Canada, 4,000 in Eastern Europeand Russia, and 7,000 in Australia.–VNA

UNFPA, KOICA pledge continued support to Vietnam to eliminate gender-based violence
