The National Committee on Search and Rescue reported that bad weather has caused several accidents at sea over the past several days but many fishermen have been saved by border guard forces and fellow fishing ships.

On July 19, the ship TV 2322 with five fishermen on board suffered from engine failure offshore the southern province of Tra Vinh and risked sinking due to strong wind and high waves. The provincial border guard force dispatched 15 soldiers and a ship to the fishermen’s rescue. The fishing vessel and all fishermen was towed ashore safely.

The same day, 13 fishermen on the ship DNa 90385 were rescued four days after their ship’s engine broke down in the waters 60 miles to the northeast of Phu Lam island, Hoang Sa archipelagos. The ship DNa 90235 towed the damaged vessel safely to Da Nang City .

On July 18, two ships crashed and sank in the southern waters of Con Dao Island of southern Ba Ria-Vung Tau province. Fortunately, all sailors on the two ships were rescued.-VNA
