Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham Gia Khiem on April 20 pressed a button opening a portal on consular affairs at http://www.lanhsuvietnam.mofa.gov.vn/.

The portal aims to provide Vietnamese citizens, foreigners and legal entities with information on consular affairs and consular public administrative services. The site carries a database of Vietnam and legal documents, as well as agreements relating to consular affairs between Vietnam and other countries.

By using the portal, people can visit the online consular procedures column to find out about travelling overseas, visa’s to other countries and solutions for people who encounter problems whilst living abroad.

The portal also has news and discussion forums, creating a link between the public and the Foreign Ministry’s Consular Department.

On addressing the ceremony, Deputy PM Khiem confirmed that the portal was part of the ministry’s plan to simplify administrative procedures and protect the rights and legal benefits of Vietnamese citizens and legal entities living abroad, with the motto “Active, in-time and effective”./.
