Hanoi(VNA) – Pham Hung, former Chief Judge of the Supreme People’s Court and a NationalAssembly deputy for many terms, passed away on February 4 at the age of 91.

Hung was born in 1927in Cuong Chinh commune, Tien Lu district of the northern province of Hung Yen.He joined the revolution in August 1945 and became a member of the Communist Partyof Vietnam in May 1946.

He served as a memberof the Party Central Committee in the fifth, sixth and seventh tenures, and ChiefJudge of the Supreme People’s Court from July 1981 to June 1998. He was aNational Assembly deputy of the seventh, eighth and ninth tenures.

In recognition of PhamHung's contributions to the nation and the revolutionary cause, a State-level funeral will beheld for Hung on February 10. After cremation, he will be buried at thecemetery in his home village.-VNA
