Hanoi (VNA) – President of the French Senate Gérard Larcher visited the France-invested Nhon-Hanoi station urban railway line in Hanoi on December 9 as part of his ongoing visit from December 8-9.
Head of the municipal urban railway management board Nguyen Cao Minh briefed Larcher on the city’s urban railway planning and the progress of the section, which was funded by official development assistance from the French Government, the French Development Agency, the Asian Development Bank, the European Investment Bank and domestic capital.
Larcher said he hoped the project will be put into operation soon.
The section spans 12.5km and passes through eight elevated and four underground stations. So far six out of eight phases have become trial operations.
Over the past five decades, Vietnam and France have recorded progress across all spheres, especially since the upgrade of their bilateral ties to a strategic partnership in September 2013.
A day earlier, NA Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and Senate President Larcher unveiled the logo for the 50th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties slated for next year./.
