Hanoi (VNA) – Four hundred representatives from foreign embassies andorganisations in Vietnam took part in a spring trip around the Co Loahistorical relic site and Dao Thuc water puppetry village in Hanoi on March 24.
Thetour was organised by the Hanoi Union of Friendship Associations and themunicipal Tourism Department, with both destinations located in Dong Anhdistrict.
InCo Loa – the biggest and most ancient citadel in Vietnam, participants offeredincenses to pay tribute to King An Duong Vuong, who built the site between 214and 208 BC as the capital of his Au Lac, one of the earliest Vietnamesekingdoms. The destination has been classified as a national special relic site.
InDao Thuc village, the foreign visitors were treated to water puppet performancesdepicting the life of ancient people in the northern delta.
Chairwomanof the municipal Union of Friendship Associations Nguyen Lan Huong said theannual spring trip not only introduces Vietnam’s cultural features tointernational friends but also offers a gathering opportunity to boost culturalexchange and mutual understanding among participants.
Huongsaid Hanoi is striving to develop an image of a safe and peaceful city.
Onbehalf of the foreign representatives, Venezuelan Ambassador to Vietnam JorgeRondon Uzcategui, who headed the diplomatic corps, thanked organisers of the tourfor their hospitality.
Hesaid he believes activities for peace and friendship like this will contributeto building a better future for Vietnam and consolidating its positioninternationally.-VNA
