The German Red Cross (GRC) has helped Vietnam carry out a number of humanitarian programmes worth over 7.7 million EUR since 2008.
The figure was announced by Vice Chairman and General Secretary of the Vietnam Red Cross Society (VRCS)’s Central Committee Doan Van Thai at a signing ceremony of a bilateral cooperation programme for the 2013-2015 period between the two societies in Hanoi on May 22.
Thai highly valued the two sides’ traditional cooperation, particularly humanitarian activities conducted by the GRC and expressed his hope that their cooperation will foster these activities in Vietnam .
At the event, Head of the GRC’s International Services and National Relief Division Richert Johannes affirmed that the GRC will continue supporting Vietnam’s humanitarian activities in the coming time.
The bilateral cooperation programme for the 2013-2015 focuses on environment, climate change prevention and enhancement of VRCS’s staff capacity.-VNA
