The Movenpick Hotel and Resorts group is to co-sponsor a charity golf tournament at the Dao Vua (Kings Island) course in Hanoi, on May 29 to raise funds for poor children with heart complaints in Vietnam.

The group’s General Manager Vietnam Knuth Kiefer told reporters on May 25 that the tournaments proceeds, which 170 golfers have registered for, will be donated to Heartbeat Vietnam, to pay for heart operations on poor children and to provide financial assistance for their families.

The funding will also be spent purchasing the equipment necessary for conducting heart operations and treatments, he added.

Another sponsor is Porsche Vietnam, which will donate a Porsche Cayman, a two seated sports car, worth over 3 billion VND (roughly 159,000 USD) as the prize for the winner of the hole-in-one contest, who will also receive a villa valued at 350,000 USD from the Archi Investment Joint-stock Company.

“We are doing our bit to support some of the poor Vietnamese children with heart disease so they can look forward to a better and longer life,” said Porsche Vietnam General Manager Andreas Klingler.

This year’s tournament has attracted both male and female golfers, who will play in three groups, two for the men and one for the women, in four secondary competition, including the nearest-to-the-pin; the longest drive; beat the Pro and the hole-in-one.

Rad Kivettee from Heartbeat Vietnam pledged to use all the money raised on child heart patients in Vietnam.

He added that his organisation has raised millions of US dollars since 2005 to provide healthcare in Vietnam, benefiting 1,500 children with congenital heart disease and providing financial assistance to their families for post-operation care as well as scholarships for young girls from ethnic minority groups./.
