Particularly, the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau suffered minus1.2 percent in GRDP growth in the first half of this year.
Duong Manh Hung, Vice Director of the GSO’s Department of NationalAccount System, said that the high GRDP growth seen in several localities wasthanks to development of industry-construction sectors.
Notably, in Ha Tinh province, the Fomosa steel plant contributed 95.61percent to the local industry-construction sector’s growth, pushing theprovince’s GRDP expansion to 32.94 percent.
At the same time, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh grew 7.07 percent and 7.27percent, respectively, and their development significantly influenced the wholecountry.
Big gap has been seen in GRDP growth of eight key economic regions. TheRed River Delta region posted 12.02 percent growth and the north central andcentral coastal regions recorded growth, 8.61 percent, while the southeast regiongained only 4.17 percent.
The reason behind the fact is the strong development of theindustry-construction sector in many Red River Delta, northern and centralcoastal provinces such as Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, ThaiBinh, Ha Tinh and Quang Ngai. Meanwhile, Ba Ria-Vung Tau’s result pulled thewhole southeast region’s performance down.
The northern midland and mountainous region recorded growth of 8.43percent, followed by the Mekong Delta region (7.61 percent) and the CentralHighlands region (7.28 percent).-VNA
