Haiti plane crash claims Vietnamese passenger

The Vietnamese Foreign Ministry on Sept. 22 confirmed a Vietnamese man died in a plane crash in Haiti on Sept. 20.

Thevictim was Le Minh Duc, born on August, 8, 1978. Duc was a staff memberof the military telecoms group Viettel, according to the VietnameseEmbassy in Cuba , which also covers Haiti .

Immediately afterreceiving the information, the Foreign Ministry asked the Embassy inCuba to coordinate and assist Viettel to conduct procedures in line withlaw to receive and transport Duc’s body to Vietnam in accordance withthe wishes of his family, the Foreign Ministry said./.

Ministry proposes seven-day 2027 Lunar New Year holiday

Under the Ministry of Home Affairs' proposal, civil servants and public employees in Vietnam would receive five statutory days off, including two days before and three days after the Lunar New Year. As two of those days fall on the weekend, they would receive two additional compensatory days off, bringing the total holiday to seven consecutive days.
