Hanoi (VNA) – Hanoi has accelerated efforts to hit its target of having 236 new-style rural communes by the end of 2016, according to Chu Phu My, director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
According to figures from the department, as of September 2016 Hanoi has 212 new-style rural communes, an increase of 11 communes from 2015.
According to My, localities have been urged to implement the programme on developing agriculture and building new-style rural communes.
The department changed agricultural structures in response to climate change to allow the sector to grow.
The department is working to establish five cooperatives and complete a project on renewing agricultural cooperatives and is developing policies encouraging agricultural cooperatives and farming economy.-VNA
