The 11th annual meeting of the Council for Promoting Tourism in Asia (CPTA) opened for the third time in Hanoi on October 10, with delegates from 10 regional countries and territories taking part.

The delegates defined responsibilities of State tourism management agencies, and discussed measures to lure more tourists to Asia through cooperative projects, as well as boost cooperation among member cities, travel promotion agencies and businesses.

The event provided Hanoi with an opportunity to increase mutual understanding of tourism and create links with CPTA member cities and countries around the globe.

On the fringes of this, an exhibition with 40 stalls will also be held to introduce images of member cities and hold promotion activities within the framework of the “Welcome to Asia ” campaign.

The host Hanoi will hold a theme tour on October 12 to help the participants get an insight into its cultural heritages and outstanding tourist products.

CPTA groups cities of Hanoi, Tokyo, New Delhi, Seoul, Taipei, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, and Bangkok, and has Ulan Bator and Tomsk as observers.-VNA
