The capital city of Hanoi on Jan. 28 launched a campaign to ensure traffic safety in 2012.
Speaking at the ceremony, Lieutenant-General Pham Quy Ngo, Deputy Minister of Public Security spoke highly of recent efforts made by municipal police, especially in ensuring public order and traffic safety during the Lunar New Year (Tet) festival this year.
Ngo said Hanoi Police is the leading unit ensuring order, security and traffic safety and repressing crime.
Colonel Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Head of Hanoi ’s Traffic Police Department said the city’s traffic police cooperates with other forces to deal with traffic violations during Tet.
The city aims to reduce traffic accidents and congestion by 5-10 percent in 2012, he said./.
