Hanoi (VNA) – Chairman of the Hanoi municipalPeople’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung hosted a reception in the capital city onJanuary 29 for the newly-accredited Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam, DeborahPaul.
Chung expressed his hope that Ambassador Paul would serve asa bridge linking Canada to Vietnam, as well as Hanoi in particular, in the newera.
He said the adoption of the Comprehensive and ProgressiveAgreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) offers both opportunities andchallenges to Hanoi. Local authorities have come up with a plan foradministrative reform, economic restructuring, and macro-economic stability toensure the development of the business community, he added, therebyfacilitating cultural, goods, and trade exchange.
Paul, for her part, said the establishment of the Canada-Vietnamcomprehensive cooperative partnership has deepened ties between people of thetwo countries.
She said Canada will send a delegation to Vietnam in thenear future to assess the impacts, opportunities, and challenges of the CPTPP,as well as increase cooperation in fields of Hanoi’s interest, such as humanresources training, information, communications, and clean technology. –VNA

Vietnam and Canada enjoy a large room for their tourism and travel companies to cooperate, with the 250,000-strong Vietnamese community living, working and studying in Canada serving as a bridge linking the two countries, watchers have said.
