An official of Hanoi has promised to make greater efforts to step up cooperative relations between the Vietnamese capital and its Lao counterpart Vientiane, as well as between the two nations.

Visiting Deputy Secretary of the municipal Hanoi Party Committee Tuong Phi Chien made the commitment during a meeting with Lao Deputy Prime Minister Asang Laoly on Sept. 23.

Chien briefed his host about the outcomes of his trip to a number of cultural establishments in Vientiane and the handing over of the Vientiane School of Politics and Administration, a gift of Hanoi to the Lao capital city.

Deputy PM Laoly thanked Hanoi for its effective assistance to Vientiane in many fields, saying that the school will help train personnel not only for Vientiane but also neighbouring provinces.

The project will contribute to the enhancement of the traditional friendship and special cooperation between the two cities and the two nations as well, he said.

The deputy PM also wished the 1,000 th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi every success, helping to honour the beauty of a heroic capital that boasts a long and glorious history./.
