The number of workers in the city is estimatedto increase by 600,000 by 2015, of whom 480,000 will need accommodations. Thefigures will increase to 800,000 and 640,000 by 2020, respectively.
Tomeet those demands, the city authorities have asked relevant agencies to createfavourable conditions for construction firms to build houses for workers andcoordinate with management boards of industrial parks and export processingzones in Hanoi to examine the quality of housing projects.
At present,Hanoi is home to 17 industrial parks and hi-tech zones. Of them, eightindustrial parks are operating with about 30,000 workers. However, enterprisesoperating in those parks are meeting difficulties in housing for their workers,thus affecting their production and business./.
